Shorthorns

Shorthorns

On our farm

Since 2014, Jan-Robert Hinrichsen has been breeding his own Shorthorn herd. This breed of cattle is nothing completely new on the farm. Already his father crossed Shorthorns with Holstein Friesians.

About the Shorthorns

The endangered breed of cattle originally comes from England. It has also been native to Germany for about 150 years, especially in Schleswig-Holstein. The breed is characterized by its peaceful, calm nature and good meat quality.

Special meat quality

Due to their slower growth and the exclusive feeding with marsh meadow hay and grass, an outstanding meat taste is produced. In our aging room the meat is dry aged for six to eight weeks. During this process it loses about 15-25% of its weight. The reduction intensifies the taste to something very special.
